There are a couple things that I would like to update everyone with today. I’ll start with the first new thing that happened in our lives. We got word that we won the lawsuit with Wal Mart from when Lori slipped on water that had been dripping from the ceiling during a trip to a store back 6 months ago. Lori’s lawyer was suing for $10,000.00 and Wal Mart settled out of court for $7500.00. After doctor’s bills and paying the lawyer, our cut comes out to right under $3000. We’re pretty pumped about that. We’re going to tithe some of that to the church that we’ve started going to first of all. It’s money that we were blessed with, so some of it needs to go to the church. And the next thing that we’re doing with it is buying a new couch sectional. We spotted on a couple weeks ago at Sofa Mart and it’s been calling our name since then. We’re pretty excited about this. It’s a HUGE improvement over the love seat that Lori has had since she was a teenager. The frame is cracked on it so when you sit down, the middle sinks in a little bit. Not comfortable at all! This new sectional has a chaise on it which is exactly what we’ve been looking for. And the price is extremely affordable. I’ll be sure to put a picture up once we are able to pick our new piece of furniture up. They’re on backorder, so it’s going to take a few weeks to get it. We’ve waited this long, we can wait a little bit longer, I guess. That’s going to be our first purchase. The rest of the money is going to go toward getting our credit cards paid down.

The next newest development is that Lori has started to feel the baby moving around. It started early last week. I took a powerful Craftsman flashlight and pointed it at her stomach. Right away, she started feeling something that she described as gas bubbles. It was brief, but unlike anything she’d felt before. Since then, she knows what she looking for as far as that feeling and she says that it feels more like something moving around inside her stomach. What an awesome thing to be able to experience. If there was one thing that I’d say that I was jealous of, it would be this. What an incredible bonding experience women get to have with their baby. Knowing that this little life is moving inside would be one of the coolest things in the world. Now, don’t get me wrong, I know that there are so many other things that make carrying a baby a real pain. Like getting up 50 times a night to pee. No thank you. And the pain of a changing body, weird cravings, back aches, etc etc. No thanks. My hat’s off to women for enduring that. But the baby moving thing. How cool is that? Confirmation that this little life is, indeed, living inside you.

We were at church yesterday morning and during the praise and worship portion, she said the baby was really moving around alot. The church congregation is pretty big and the music is definitely loud enough, with a full band and choir, to hear in utero (you like that doctor word?). The baby must have been going nuts with all the sound. And what a cool place to be moving around. I’m sure little baby Ferguson was getting it’s praise on while we were all singing. That’s our baby’s first reaction to church. Better get used to it because we plan on staying in church.

And the last new thing is that Lori is starting her new job today. She got a temporary clerical job working at Dell. The position is supposed to be for 5 months. That should be plenty of time for her to work before she has the baby. And she’ll be making alot more than what she was making working for the real estate agent, so that will help alot. Our goal is to have our credit cards paid off by the time the baby is born in March. Should be achievable considering that we were able to make ends meet on her last job’s pay. I hope that everything goes well with her new job. As of a few minutes ago, she was still waiting in the main lobby of the building that she’s supposed to be working in. The guard there has been trying to get a hold of the person that she’s reporting to, but no one is there. I hope this isn’t a bad sign of how the job’s going to be. I’ll stay optimistic though. It’s only a temp job. She’ll be able to handle whatever they dish out to her. She’s strong like that!

Other than that, things are going well. Richard, my youngest brother, is living with us. He’s been looking for a job so that he can get settled into his own place. His girlfriend in North Dakota is talking about moving down here as well. We’ll see how all that goes for them.
